BABY CONTEST INFORMATION
(Please Read Carefully)
Baby Contest Date: SUNDAY, JUNE 1st
Judging begins at 1:00 pm, Arrive
by 12:45 Awards Presentation 2:00 pm
Registration
1. Print form from website or after May 1st, or pick one up at:
Cal’s
Camera, 1770 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa or State Farm Insurance,
1551 Baker St, Ste B, Costa Mesa.
2. By 5/29/07, Mail completed form along with $5 registration fee and
a copy of birth
records to: CMNH LIONS-FISH FRY BABY CONTEST, 3327 California St., Costa Mesa, CA 92626
If you
miss this deadline, fax by 6/1/07 and bring registration fee and copy
birth record to judging
3. Registration is limited to 30 babies in each group (SO REGISTER
EARLY) and will
remain open until each group has 30 babies. Parents will be notified when their child is added to the
Contestant List
by phone or email if registered by 6/1/07.
Rules
This
is intended as a fun experience and parent and baby will remain together
at all times.
1. Babies must be within
the age categories and in the correct group based on their age
as
of the date of the contest. Group 1 is for babies 6-12 months,
Group 2 is for babies 12-24 months
2. Only one parent may be in the circle with each baby. An adult,
other than parent may
be designated by parent to sit with baby.
3. Spectators will be allowed to view
judging but MUST remain in the spectator area.
4. Bottles or small toys are allowed during judging, however, strollers
& other items
should remain with someone in the spectator
area.
5. Babies need to stay within
an arms length of their parent and within the judging circle.
Judging
1 On Sunday, June 3rd, bring your baby to the Downtown Community Center
at Lions
Park, Costa Mesa. Arrive by 12:45 pm. Judging begins
promptly at 1:00 pm.
2. Contest Judging is held inside the Community Center. At the
check-in desk you will
be given an entry number to put on your left shoulder. There will be two circles of chairs, one for each group.
Find the seat with your number.
3. Every effort is made to select Judges from out of town, however,
some alternates
are needed. Judges have Babies numbers only, and do not have contestant’s name.
They are impartial
and do their best. Judging babies is not easy because they are all
adorable.
4. Judging is based on personality, beauty and overall appearance.
5. Judging begins as soon as you enter the circle with your baby.
6. Judging should be completed by 1:30 pm, and you will be told when
judging for your
group concludes. Please remain in your circle
until judging for both groups has finished.
Awards Presentation
1. At 1:30, once judging is complete, spectators will be asked to go
to the stage area
for the Awards Presentation. Strollers and
personal items should go with the spectators.
2. Babies and parent will remain inside the room and at 1:50 will be
line up numerically
and escorted to the stage area.
3. At 2:00 pm, Group 1 will be introduced individually by the emcee. As soon as your
baby is introduced, proceed slowly across the stage and down the opposite steps.
Babies may walk or be carried across the stage, but parent must have a hand on them at all times for safety reasons.
Group 2 will follow the same procedure. All babies will receive a participation award.
4. Remain in the stage area. After the introductions, the
emcee will call up 6
contestants from Group 1. Please come to the stage quickly if your number is called.
Honorable Mentions awards will be followed by 3rd, 2nd and 1st place awards.
Group
2 will follow the same procedure.
